Psalm 34:18-19
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those whose spirits have been crushed. Many are the troubles of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Dear Heavenly Father,
This world brings us challenges, troubles, and trials; many—believers and unbelievers—are brokenhearted. Those who trust in you can also feel their spirits crushed by events caused by the weather and hurricanes, difficulties around the world, local problems, or family challenges. We ask you to deliver us from everything that causes us to be brokenhearted, according to the promises you have given us here.
We bring to you the things that cause us to suffer. You know what is on our hearts and all our challenges today. We pray: Lord, help us!
Because of your love for us, you have already delivered the most extraordinary deliverance to everyone—deliverance from our sins. Because mankind fell into sin, the world was also condemned. Sin is why we have these storms, sickness, death, and wars. You established your plan of salvation to redeem us from being separated from you; you sent your Son to be our Savior. Sin should be the most terrifying challenge we could ever face because that condemns us to suffer and be separated from you for eternity.
Jesus became a part of creation; he lived a perfect life and then died an innocent death on the cross to remove all our sins. The gift of forgiveness comes to us through faith alone in Christ, and no one is forced to believe, but by trusting Jesus, we are restored to you and granted eternal life.
We thank you for delivering us from all challenges, problems, and troubles. Please let us share this good news with those who do not yet know you; begin faith in them so they will know you deliver them from all difficulties that hold them hostage, and you have forgiven them all their sins. Amen.
