2 Peter 1:19-21
We also have the completely reliable prophetic word. You do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts, since we know this above all else: No prophecy of Scripture comes about from someone’s own interpretation. In fact, no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but men spoke from God as the Holy Spirit was carrying them along.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word explains darkness and light; it contains prophecy and fulfillment, repentance and forgiveness, salvation and eternal life. None of these are cleverly devised myths of men; instead, they are your plan of salvation for us all.
The world questions how we can be sure of what was written. The Old Testament promises the Messiah to come but also includes the sins of your people. Along with those marks against those you put into prominent positions: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Saul, David, Solomon, and the list goes on into the New Testament. Then, the disciples are witnesses to your Son’s resurrection. For the disciples to have lied about his resurrection and then to lose their lives over what they knew was a lie makes no rational sense.
All your Word was the history of the world, which also included your plan of salvation for us all. Jesus brought the light into the world’s darkness of sin. So that all who hear these words and believe will have everlasting life with you in heaven. Jesus’ death on the cross redeemed us from our sins so that everyone who believes in him has salvation and eternal life. As we repent of our sins, we are forgiven, and we no longer need to hold on to the guilt and shame that accompanies our sins; all this is gone.
Let our ears be unstopped to hear the truth of your word, let our hearts be welcoming to believe your word, and let our mouths be open to tell others who do not know about your love and mercy so that they, too, will hear and trust in Jesus. May the morning of salvation dawn for them as well. Please let the lamp of your word shine in our hearts. Amen.

God does not force anyone to hear or believe his word, which contains the forgiveness of sins, the salvational promise, hope in Christ, and the joy of heaven. God has given us his Word to hear his love for us and his desire for us to be with him in heaven—these are the Bible’s truths.
