Psalm 34:18-19
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those whose spirits have been crushed. Many are the troubles of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Jesus once said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor but the sick.” When we recognize the depth of our sins and understand what is at stake, we realize that we are accountable for everything we have done, and each sin separates us from you. Every sin warrants eternal death, and since we have inherited our sinful nature from our parents, this is where we start. David wrote in the Psalms, “In sin did my mother conceive me.”
We go through life and cannot live the perfect life you require of us. Our sins are continually before us. Moreover, our guilt is before us, leaving us brokenhearted about how we have treated others. We are constantly reminded of all we have said and done to hurt others and not love you.
However, all is not lost. This is where we need to be. When we realize that, on our own, there is no way out. Like being on a river, we are about to plunge over the waterfall into our eternal death. We know we need a Savior, and when we are brokenhearted over our sins, you are with us; you save us through your Son.
You sent us Jesus; he is the hero who rescued us from the burdens of sin, death, hell, and Satan. We are no longer alone, struggling to figure out how to pay off sin’s debt. Jesus paid it on the cross; it is for everyone and comes to each person through faith in Him. We face many challenges, but you have saved us from them all. Lord, thank you for being with me and sending your Son to deliver me. Amen.

We all wear masks to hide our sins from those around us. Take off your mask and stand before God with a repentant heart, all your blemishes exposed. He will deliver you because Jesus has already taken away all your sins.
