Time for Grace – March 18, 2025

John 8:58

Jesus said to them, “Amen, Amen, I tell you: Before Abraham was born, I am.”

Dear Lord Jesus,

When Moses asked, “Who should I say sent me?” he was told, “Tell them ‘I Am’ sent you.” So, when you told those listening to you that day that you were the “I Am,’ your listeners questioned you. However, you are united with the Father and the Holy Spirit and were present at creation, bringing forth everything we see in the universe. You are eternal and existed before Abraham.

When we fell into sin, you left heaven and came to earth to be part of your creation, to be under the law and to suffer all that we suffer, to endure what we endure, and to submit yourself to your holy law. You were tempted in every way we are tempted, yet you remained without sin. So, when we are tempted, we know that you have already defeated every temptation for us.

So the tempter has no power over us to keep us from you or to drive us away. When we fall into those temptations, we know that you have already forgiven us on the cross, and our bondage to sin has been completely removed. Sin, death, and the devil were our great enemies, and we could not stand against them on our own. So you willingly came here and defeated them. In return, we receive salvation and eternal life through faith in you.

Please strengthen our faith through Your word, so that we may walk in accordance with Your will in love today. May we joyfully share the good news of Your love and forgiveness with those who do not know You. May they understand the significance of why You were here before Abraham. You are the great I Am; You gave up heaven for them and for us so that we may all have salvation and eternal life when this life ends. Amen.

Before Jesus was conceived in Mary, He already was. God knew your need for a Savior, and so Jesus willingly came to our world to suffer and die for all your sins so that, in the end, you will be taken into His heaven. Salvation is yours by faith in Jesus.
