Time for Grace – May 10, 2025

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the Lord will receive new strength. They will lift up their wings and soar like eagles. They will run and not become weary. They will walk and not become tired.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We have never been good at waiting; we become impatient and want what we desire right now. We yearn for the earthly strength to get up and run like we did when we were young, but as age takes its toll on us, our bodies deteriorate, and those days when we ran seem to fade into glory. Yet we thank you because this is a promise you have given us in your Word.

We will run and not grow weary. Sometimes you give us the adrenaline to accomplish amazing feats of strength, to run, or even to multitask the various chores of our day. However, this promise is so much more than that. This promise is the renewed strength that comes to us through faith, through knowing and trusting what our Savior has done for us. He brought us the peace of salvation and the promise of heaven as He suffered His innocent death on the cross and then rose three days later. Jesus paid the punishment for all the world’s sins, and forgiveness is extended to all who cling to that promise.

We will navigate this life with perseverance as we hold on to you. Grant us the patience to wait for the day when we take our last breath on this earth and are home with you forever. Provide us with the opportunities to hear your Word and the strength to bolster our faith, which enables us to hold on to the promise of salvation that is ours through your Son, our Savior.

As we journey through life, let us share our confidence in salvation with those who do not know you or have lost sight of you. Let us share the forgiveness of sins that Jesus won for them so they may come to know and trust in you, receiving the hope of eternal life through faith in Jesus. Amen.

Your body may feel weak, but God strengthens your faith through His Word and sacraments. Because Jesus suffered and died for you, despite how your body might feel, He grants you eternal heavenly life, which is yours by faith alone. In heaven, you will soar like an eagle.
