Time for Grace – May 15, 2025

Psalm 65:5-8

In righteousness you answer us with awesome deeds, O God who saves us. He is trusted by all the farthest ends of the earth and the sea. He establishes the mountains by his power. He has wrapped himself with strength. He stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the peoples. Those living at the ends of the earth fear your signs. From sunrise to sunset you let them shout for joy.

Dear Heavenly Father,

This world is chaotic, filled with turmoil and troubles. We may experience a moment of peace, but the next often brings an unexpected curveball that life throws at us. We have the joy of a new baby’s life and then the sorrow of losing a loved one. Yet You are here for us through all the storms of life and the roaring of the seas; You still them all.

Let us come to You today and calm the waves that rage around us, especially those troubles we face because of what we have thought, said, or done to hurt those around us. Give us the courage to say, “I am sorry!” and respond to others with “You are forgiven!”

In Your power, You established the earth and all that is in it. Because of the distress caused by our sins, You sent Your Son to overcome them and defeat death and the devil. By faith in Jesus, we have the promise of forgiveness that leads to eternal life and salvation. Your love and mercy for us have also calmed the storms that arise from our sins. Thank You for loving us in this way, sending Your Son to restore us to You through His holy life and innocent death.

Grant us opportunities to share with those who do not know You the ways You have helped us overcome our greatest struggles and have given us the gift of salvation and eternal life. Please wrap all who believe in You in Your strength. Let us all shout for joy because of what You have done in bringing us eternal life and salvation. Amen.

God desires everyone to be restored and be right with Him, which comes to each person through faith in knowing that Jesus has borne everyone’s punishment. Trusting in Jesus removes our sins and restores every believer to His grace. God’s power lies in forgiveness.
