Time for Grace – May 21, 2025

Psalm 8:1

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Set this glory of yours above the heavens.

Dear Heavenly Father,

When we look at nature, we can see Your care and concern in creating the earth and everything in it. The majesty of the snow-capped mountains, the serenity of a cascading waterfall, and the stillness of an open plain are examples of Your glory. However, while we witness all this splendor and observe how nature reproduces according to its kind, we only perceive a natural knowledge about You.

By nature and conscience, everyone understands they will be held accountable for their actions. The world that does not know You sees You only as angry, aware they will face Your wrath and condemnation on the last day. However, this dire situation arises from its rejection of Your love and mercy; it refuses the forgiveness that Jesus won for them on the cross.

Yet You reveal Your true glory, love, mercy, and peace in Your Word. Your glory surpasses the heavens and all we see in nature. Your Word tells us how Your glory was disclosed; we call it Your revealed knowledge. Jesus came to this earth and lived perfectly in our place. He took the sins of the world upon Himself on the cross and suffered our punishment—our condemnation. As He gave up His life on the cross, He hung there and defeated sin, death, and the Devil—all of them defeated. On Easter morning, His tomb was empty, and the victory was won. All this brought life and salvation, so eternal life is ours through faith in Jesus.

Your plan for salvation—because You desire all people to be saved—revealed Your glory in Christ. You overcame all sin to save us through Him, elevating Your glory far above the heavens.

We pray that Your glory will be revealed to those who do not yet know You. Ignite faith within them so they may trust in Your love, forgiveness, grace, and mercy. May Your glory be unveiled to them. Amen.
