John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him everything was made, and without him not one thing was made that has been made. In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. The light is shining in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Dear Heavenly Father,
These words of John show that You were not alone in creating the universe; Your Son was with You. Jesus was the Word through whom all things were created. Through Him, everything was made, and it was made out of nothing. Therefore, it makes sense that as the creator and builder, He would also be the repairer for what we humans broke in the fall into sin.
It’s difficult to see how our actions affect more than just ourselves; how our sins cause chaos for the world and those around us. Yet, when someone runs a stop sign and hits another car, the other person’s vehicle is impacted. Then, a bolt or piece of glass that was missed during cleanup can end up in someone else’s tire—someone who wasn’t even involved in the incident—causing a flat for them. Sin has corrupted the world; it brought death and chaos. Through Paul’s letter to the Romans, you explain why all things die: the wage of sin is death.
So Jesus, who created all things, was sent to repair the damage caused by our sins. He lived perfectly under the law, loving You and others (us) flawlessly. Then He clothes us in His righteousness, giving us His perfection. Yet You also said that a death had to occur for sin, and Jesus overcame death by willingly going to the cross for us. On the cross, He defeated sin, death, and the devil, making all three powerless against those who trust in Him. We ask You to strengthen our faith in Jesus. Please forgive us and give us the courage to share the good news about the Word with those who do not know Jesus. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts so they can have confidence in the complete forgiveness available because of what Jesus did on the cross. Thank You for sending us the Builder to restore us to You. Amen.

God the Father’s love was to send His Son. Jesus’ love was to come and willingly die in your place. The Holy Spirit’s love is calling you and gathering the entire Christian church, igniting faith in each believer’s heart. The Word came so that you might believe.
