Matthew 13:44-46
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid again. In his joy, he goes away and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls. When he found one very valuable pearl, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Forgive us when we fail to recognize the treasure of our salvation, as we become so caught up in life’s moments or overwhelmed by its challenges that we overlook your gift. One might think that, as valuable as eternal life is, we would do everything we can to acquire that precious gem. However, there is nothing we can do; it comes to us through the faith that your Spirit begins within us through Word and sacrament. Our salvation is such a magnificent gem where we will live with you for eternity—no pain, no disease, no tears, and no sin—only joy, peace, and hope for eternity. Heaven, you make ours by faith in our Savior. He has forgiven.
Let us see, then, share the great treasure that awaits everyone, which only comes through faith in Christ. Put your words in our mouths so we can confidently share with others, telling those who do not know you about the gem of forgiveness and the pearl of wisdom that opens the gate to heaven for them. Amen.
