2 Timothy 2:11-13

This saying is trustworthy: Indeed, if we have died with Him, we will also live with Him; If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He will also deny us; If we are faithless, He remains faithful, because He cannot deny Himself.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for these words. Let me never cheapen the grace that you have given to me. In your love and mercy, you came to this earth before I came into existence, and you were all in to save me from my sins. You were beaten for my indiscretions, flogged for my immorality, crucified for my hatred, forsaken by your Father for my offenses, and gave up your life for my sins. Forgiveness was not something you did lightly; you were all in for the world’s sins. So we would have life. The Holy Spirit began faith in me and all believers to trust what you have done. He used your Word to instill this confidence in us. Throughout our lives, we will face many trials, troubles, temptations, and even more sins. They will come our way from the Devil, world, and our sinful flesh, but you promise whoever endures in you, remaining until the end, will reign with you in heaven.

I ask again, never let me cheapen all this you have done for me by denying you. Never let me think I have some golden ticket to do whatever I please because you have saved me. That I would be able to chase after whatever sins I want to pursue because you will forgive me. That I should think you have to forgive me. What a horrible way to take advantage of the love you have won for me and all believers. Let me come before you and humbly lay my sins at the foot of your cross, especially those sins that would cheapen your grace. Let me remember this is all because of your mercy that you have forgiven me. Lord, you were all in for my salvation; never let me forget. Amen.

Don’t use God’s love as a good luck charm or a get-out-of-jail-free card. His love and forgiveness are magnificent and should never be taken advantage of; it cheapens it for all believers. God is faithful!
