Galatians 2:19-21
Indeed, through the law I died to the law that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I am now living in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not regard the grace of God as nothing. As a matter of fact, if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”
Dear Heavenly Father,
When people walk this earth, their guilt and shame cause them much concern because of what they have done. Your law effectively shows us our iniquities; our consciences tell us when we are doing something wrong, and sometimes it eats at us, causing anxiety, worry, and depression. Living a perfect life will not undo all our past wrongs, and no one can live into the future perfectly. Yet Your Word tells us we are to live perfect, loving lives towards you and others, but we all fail.
However, all is not lost! By faith, we know and trust what your word tells us about Jesus. He suffered and died on that cross to pay the penalty; by our faith, we died with him. So just as he rose from the dead, we, too, have been given new lives through him. Faith holds onto the grace you have given us. and as Paul said, “I do not regard your grace as nothing!” Your love restores us to you because Christ has abandoned our sins as far as the East is from the West. It is entirely by the forgiveness Jesus won for us that we have eternal life, so through faith, we live our lives out of love for you and others, no longer trying to satisfy our sinful desires but living lives pleasing to you. When we fail, we know we can return to Jesus for forgiveness.
Please allow us to share the good news of your love with those who do not know you. So that they may learn of your grace and mercy and finally have eternal life and salvation. Amen.
