Psalm 28:6-7
Blessed be the Lord, because he has heard the sound of my plea for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield. In him, my heart trusts, and I am helped. My heart also celebrates. With my song, I will give thanks to him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
It is hard to understand how you can be blessed, but it happens when someone asks for your mercy and forgiveness for their sins. You created us to be with you in heaven, but our sinful nature and desires push us away from you. We fall into sin’s temptations when we give in to our sinful desires through what we think, say, and do. Or when we judge others through our lens of sin, we fail to see them not as you see them, your children, or even your potential children. However, when we repent of our sins and ask for mercy, there is much celebrating in heaven over the one sinner who repents of their sins.
So, we come to you and ask for your mercy for Jesus’ sake. He suffered upon the cross for all our sins, and you have granted us forgiveness that comes to us through Jesus. We place our trust in him and you; through Jesus, you forgive and protect us from everything that would attempt to destroy our faith in him; without Jesus, we should be condemned for eternity. Yet because of your grace and mercy, you have restored us.
So, we thank You for Your love and mercy for us. Thank you for hearing our prayer and answering our prayer to forgiven us. May we sing for joy at the salvation you have given us by faith alone in Jesus.
Let our song of joy be one that, as we sing, others will hear. Let them hear the good news of forgiveness that is theirs through faith in Jesus; begin faith in them to believe and receive the gifts of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. Amen.
