Isaiah 66:1-2
This is what the Lord says. The heavens are my throne, and the earth is a footstool under my feet. Where, then, is the house that you could build for me? Where, then, is a place that could serve as my resting place? For my hand made all these things, so all these things came into existence, declares the Lord.
Dear Heavenly Father,
So often, we fail to realize how great you are; you cannot be contained to any particular place. You fill the universe. At the same time, you are also so close to us that you know the most intimate details about each of us. We ask that you forgive us when problems come our way, and we fail to look to you for rest. Those challenges, be it work, the weather, our health, the loss of someone close to us, or our relationships with others, can seem like undefeatable challenges, but they are nothing for you.
Please hear our prayers for the storms assailing us today. We pray that you will answer our concerns according to your abundant love as we lay them before you. You remind us that you brought everything into existence; nothing is superior or more extraordinary than you.
You have already overcome our most significant problem, which was our sins. Jesus suffered the punishment for all our sins with his innocent death on the cross, and if you have defeated sin, death, and the devil, we can be confident you will be with us to persevere in life’s heartaches. Some might wonder why. The answer is your love and mercy for us because you created us to be with you forever in heaven, and that is your will for us.
So, while no place in this universe can be your resting place, you also tell us in your Word that you never rest. Let us share your greatness and love with others; let them trust in you for all their needs. You are our great God. Amen.

God cannot be contained, and neither can his love and mercy. He has already shown his love by allowing his Son to suffer the punishment of your sins so that by believing in Jesus, you will have eternal life and salvation.
