Psalm 65:5-8
In righteousness, you answer us with awesome deeds, O God who saves us. He is trusted by all the farthest ends of the earth and the sea. He establishes the mountains by his power. He has wrapped himself with strength. He stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the peoples. Those living at the ends of the earth fear your signs. From sunrise to sunset, you let them shout for joy.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Save us from all the world’s turmoil. Wars and rumors of wars are all around us. Divisions and political unrest, it seems, are caused by the elite few who wish to control the entire earth. In all this chaos, we come to you for comfort and consider your righteousness—how you restore us to you.
While we may feel out of control with everything around us, we know you brought forth the universe in creation, the earth, and all the mountains by the power of your spoken word. You have led your people in the past, guiding them through the Red Sea and directing them to the promised land. We also know that Jesus calmed the sea with his words. So, we ask you to calm the storms surrounding us.
Should the world and all governments collapse, let us hold to your plan of salvation, which returned fallen man to your good graces. You sent your Son as our substitute; he took our place to suffer and die for all our sins; Jesus overcame all our sins. He lived a perfect life and died an innocent death on the cross for all people so that whoever believes in him has been made righteous.
We sing for joy because, without your salvation, nothing in us is good; sin corrupted us, but Jesus restores us all through his love and mercy. While forgiveness is for all, many still reject your love. There is a terrifying fear for the unbeliever because they will be held accountable for all they have done. Please let us share your righteousness with those who do not rightly know you; begin a change in their hearts to believe in you so they will also sing for joy at your love and mercy. Amen.
