Psalm 95:1-7
Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord. Let us give a loud shout to the Rock who saves us. Let us approach his presence with thanksgiving. With music, we will shout to him. For the Lord is the great God and the great King above all gods. He holds the unexplored places of the earth in his hand, and the peaks of the mountains belong to him. The sea belongs to him, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down. Let us revere him. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the flock in his hand.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are our maker and redeemer, so we humbly come before you to give you thanks for all that you have done. You created the universe from out of nothing and brought everything forth. You formed the earth and everything we see, even where no one has yet traveled. This demonstrates your power and might, so we come before you in humble reverence; we do not deserve to be in your mighty presence because of our sins.
However, you did not leave us in our sins but established a plan to save us. Through your plan of salvation, you sent your son to conquer sin, death, and the Devil. While Jesus had not come when this Psalm was written, it was confidently attested that you have saved us all even though Jesus was still a promise. By faith in the coming Savior, Old Testament believers held on to the promise of the One to come, and we hold on to the fulfillment of the same promise. You have made us your people; like sheep, you care for believers of all times and make us part of the heavenly flock kept in your hand.
Let us share the good news of our salvation with those who do not know you. Let them approach you with thanksgiving as they trust in you for salvation; please make them part of your flock. Amen.
