Deuteronomy 7:9
He did this so that you would know that the Lord your God, yes, he is God, the faithful God who maintains both his covenant and his mercy for those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We stand in awe of Your grace and mercy. Like the children of Israel, who were in bondage in Egypt for 400 years, You upheld the covenant made with Abraham: that his descendants through Isaac would inherit that land. You were faithful to them, kept Your promise, and brought them to the promised land, sustaining them in the wilderness so they would recognize Your faithfulness.
Just as we know You are faithful to us, even many generations beyond the past, we too have been trapped in the bondage of our sins with no escape. You sent Your Son to pay the price for our sins so that everyone who loves and trusts in Jesus will be freed from sin’s captivity and restored to You. Like the children of Israel, no one is forced to believe in You; however, faith brings salvation and eternal life when they do believe.
We are not forced to follow Your commandments, but we do so out of love for You and a desire to uphold them, thus honoring and serving You. May Your grace and mercy be evident to those we encounter today, so they may recognize Your love and yearn to know You more deeply. Let Your word work in their hearts so that faith may take root within them, leading to their salvation and eternal life with You. Amen.

While God is faithful, our sins and pride cloud our perception of Him. In His Word, He reveals how He saved His people in the past and continues to save us today through the forgiveness of sins. Through faith in Jesus, He grants eternal life to everyone who believes in Him.
